What is WTUL station?

WTUL is a student-run organization with freeform radio programming that focuses on progressive, classical, and jazz music but also features specialty programming including reggae, folk, hardcore, blues, and more. As a student-run and non-commercial station, this event helps to raise all the necessary money for new equipment, community events, concerts, station maintenance, music acquisition, and more.

By supporting WTUL station during the 55th annual fundraising marathon, you are helping to keep this unique organization on the air. Furthermore, sponsors have the opportunities to match or challenge donations, increasing the fun and promoting this event beyond Tulane and further into the community.

A Bit of History

The Survival Marathon began as a fundraising technique for WTUL in the early years of the station amidst a budget crisis, when a DJ stepped up to broadcast until student government granted emergency funding to WTUL. While the format for the marathon has changed, it garners attention around town as DJs stay on air and broadcast full 24 hour sets.

In previous years, donations have contributed to important projects that promoted the stations success, such as moving the WTUL antenna from Monroe Hall to the Tidewater building downtown, which provides clear coverage to Chalmette and further beyond.

Support WTUL's annual Rock on Survival Marathon and help preserve Tulane's historic student-led radio station, which has been bringing diverse programming to New Orleans for over five decades through the community donations that maintain its unique voice on the airwaves.
