ThriftCon Makes New Orleans Debut

ThriftCon, recognized as the world's premier vintage clothing and collectible convention, is making its debut in New Orleans this spring.

The traveling event will take over the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on Saturday, May 9, offering a day dedicated to vintage fashion, collectibles, and community commerce. Thousands of attendees are expecting for this event, making ThriftCon a necessary addition to the city's event calendar.

Vendors and Variety

The experience is designed as an immersive celebration of vintage clothing culture. Items span decades, from 1950s classics to modern attire, and include t-shirts, outerwear, dresses, hats, sneakers, and accessories. Beyond apparel, attendees will find vinyl records, home goods, art, and collectibles, making the event appealing to many interests.

This year, the event will feature over 130 vendors from across the country. Each brings a unique inventory, ranging from affordable items to high-end collectibles. The diversity of offerings ensures that both more serious collectors and casual shoppers can discover something memorable.

Live Entertainment and Interactive Pieces

In addition to shopping, ThriftCon incorporates entertainment and educational elements throughout the day. Organizers planned immersive activations, installations, and special guest appearances to enhance the experience. A mid-day live performance from a local artist, yet to be announced, will highlight the event, alongside a speaking panel that features emerging creative artists. These additions create a more dynamic cultural gathering rather than just a retail space.

Admission Details

Admission at ThriftCon includes general entry tickets with options for early access. Tickets can be purchased online, with early admission at 9 a.m. costing $45 and general admission at 10 a.m. costing $19. Due to the event's popularity in other cities, where average attendance surpassed 6,500 people in 2025, organizers recommend purchasing tickets early.

The convention's rapid growth since its founding in 2019 reflects an increasing demand for in-person vintage shopping experiences. In 2025, over 12 million dollars was made in secondhand sales, directed towards small businesses.

Mission and About ThriftCon

Beyond commerce, ThriftCon promotes a message of sustainability. By encouraging the reuse and repurposing of clothing and items, the event highlights an alternative to fast fashion and its impact on the environment. The mission resonates strongly with younger audiences, who have helped fuel the resurgence of thrifting and secondhand markets in recent years.

"I love the accessibility of thrifting and reselling," Co-Founder Mario Conte said in a press release. "Anyone can hit a thrift or a garage sale and sell it on Instagram, Facebook Marketplace, start an eBay, Depop, whatever. There is such a wealth of knowledge available and the vintage community has opened up a lot of doors for people to create their own hustle."

Additionally, ThriftCon's sustainability mission, along with the element of childhood nostalgia, makes it particularly popular among the younger generation. Collectors and those interested are able to spend hours of their day with different vendors and sponsors to add to the experience.

"We aren't just buying/selling/trading clothing either," Conte said in a press release. "We're investing in the stories, history, education and culture behind the pieces."

Connecting Online Culture to Real Life

During the COVID-19 pandemic, online reselling and the secondhand market industry surged. ThriftCon aims to bring that online environment to life. It provides a real-life shopping experience and interaction with businesses that was lost during the pandemic.

The event serves a bridge between digital platforms and real-word interaction, as buyers and sellers can connect face-to-face. The result is a more personal shopping experience where stories and craftsmanship are highlighted.
