Want to sip on cocktails, have costume crafting sessions, and king cake pairings? The historic building standing on the corner of Canal and Magazine, the Sazerac House, along with cocktail historian Elizabeth Pearce, Mask and Headdress Designer Elizabeth Zibilich, and Bywater Bakery, will make that happen in classic New Orleans style.

In honor of bringing in the vibrant culture of Mardi Gras and the return of the parade route, the Sazerac House will be hosting a series of extraordinary events celebrating the merriment and festivities of carnival, alongside delightful and historic cocktail pairings. The three floors of the Sazerac House exhibit New Orleans history and welcome visitors as they can experience carnival through the stories of the cocktail-infused legend big this year! Special events, alongside the "King Cocktail" House Float in the lobby of the Sazerac House, will let guests encounter Carnival in true New Orleans fashion.

The variety of the Sazerac House Carnival Special Events include:

  • February 10 from 4-5 p.m.: King Cake and Cocktails Pairing
    • Carnival season is not Carnival season without king cake and boozy beverages. This event delves into the history and craft of king cake and Carnival cocktails, all the while giving out excellent pairings. This is hosted by Sazerac House Bar Experts and Bywater Bakery. The price is $30 per person

· February 15 from 4-5 p.m.: Drink & Learn Carnival Traditions

    • This event teaches the 300+ year history of New Orleanians drinking and celebrating the entire Carnival season from Twelfth Night until Fat Tuesday. This will be hosted by Drinks Historian Elizabeth Pearce and the price is $30 per person

· February 16 from 4-5:30 p.m.: Spirited Head Dress Workshop

    • Hosted by headdress artist Elizabeth Zibilich, this workshop pairs head dressmaking with parade perfect cocktails. The event will provide all materials; however, guests are motivated to bring items that they would like to incorporate into their design. The price is $50 per person.

· February 17 from 4-5:30 p.m.: Spirited Mask Making Workshop

    • Relish in a mask-making workshop, headed by Elizabeth Zibilich, as you sip on parade ideal cocktails. Materials are provided, but guests can also bring items from home they would like to incorporate into their design. The price is $50 per person.

Tickets for all events can be purchased here. In-person events will require all visitors and staff to distance seating and have personal protective equipment. All in-person events will be held in the Imperial Cabinet Saloon, a spacious event venue on the 4th Floor of the Sazerac House, allowing guests plenty of room for social distancing.
