This year, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival will include a one-million-person-strong sober-supportive wellness tent to promote inclusive recovery solutions. The Stand Together Foundation, Stand Together Music, and The Phoenix will co-host the Wellness Retreat.
1 Million Strong, an impact initiative that seeks to change the way people think about addiction and recovery, announced a partnership with the 2023 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival that will include a free sober-supportive wellness retreat experience for festivalgoers to cool down, recharge, and enjoy Jazz Fest music and alcohol-free cocktails in a relaxing environment.
The 1 Million Strong health experience at Jazz Fest is free and open to festivalgoers both weekends, April 28 - 30 and May 4 - 7, and allows guests to enjoy mocktail happy hours and interact with people in recovery as well as recovery advocates. The tent will open at the same time as Jazz Fest, at 11:00 a.m. (CT) everyday.
"Having 1 Million Strong's sober-supportive wellness tent at the event demonstrates that sobriety does not mean that people in recovery can't be a part of events like this," said Bill Taylor, Director, Music Strategy and Programs, The Phoenix. "There is tremendous strength in coming together as a community to support one another, and that's what these spaces are all about."
