The Mountain Goats is the brainchild of John Darnielle (vocals, keyboards, and guitar). His touring band and collaborators for over ten years now include Peter Hughes (bass, vocals), Jon Wurster (drums), and multi-instrumentalist Matt Douglas (sax, guitar, keyboards, flute, clarinet, and background vocals). Throughout the life of the band, they have recorded 20 studio albums, four compilation albums, two live albums, ten demo albums, 18 solo extended plays, six collaborative extended plays, and 24 singles. This current tour and namesake is in support of their latest effort Bleed Out. The set was compromised of thirteen of those twenty albums highlighted by Bleed Out.

John was in an excellent mood and seemed to thrive off the audience reactions to the music he was playing. They were singing along to every song and showed great responses to crowd favorites "Up the Wolves," "No Children," and "This Year." John's solo set was whimsical and a stroll down memory lane. You can see more pictures here.

A nice side note: Ten years ago, The Mountain Goats played Tipitina's for the first time and coincidently was my first professional photography assignment.
