Taquerias Carnalito in NOLA

Taquerias Carnalito's grand opening in the CBD on Friday, October 3 will receive an enthusiastic NOLA welcome if their soft opening is any indication.

Nestled along the CBD neighborhood's thoroughfare at 930 Poydras St. is Taquerias Carnalito, a new taco stand inspired by authentic Mexican street food.

This "on the go" style establishment offers street tacos served on a nixtamalized tortilla. Menu offerings include Gringas—handmade flour tortillas filled with meat, melted cheese, yogurt, and chipotle sauce. Volcánes, which are crispy flat tortillas topped with a mountain of meat and melted cheese, and many other options will be available, as well.

The cultural vibe is a blend of vibrant flavors paired with bright colors and Mexican dance music with an interior design emulating a traditional Mexican market.

Taquerias Carnalito offers non-alcoholic beverages such as Horchata and Agua de Jamaica, as well as Mexican beers and various margaritas, such as mango margaritas, offered by the glass or by the jug.

Fans of the eatery can pick up some stylish branded merch, including Taquerias Carnalito's hoodies and bomber jackets to stay warm as the temps begin to fall.

Veho Hospitality Group—who also owns the sister Taco del Cartel restaurants—expects Taquerias Carnalito to be open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, with extended hours on Friday and Saturday until 1am.
