The second
annual GatesFest Music & Arts Festival will take place in Metairie on
Sunday, March 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Sponsored by
Congregation Gates of Prayer, Gatesfest will include a lineup of
stellar artists, including Sweet Crude, Electric Yat Quartet, Big Sam's Funky Nation, and platinum-selling pop-rock band
X Ambassadors. There will also be food trucks representing local
restaurants, a Team Gleason Beer Garden serving handcrafted
beer, and the Plotkin Art Village featuring more than 20 local and regional
artists.
"We are
proud and excited to invite community members from across the region to come
together to celebrate our unique culture and enjoy live music," Senior Rabbi
David Garber said.
New to
GatesFest is the Jewish Community Day School and J-FLEx's
Family Fest Area, where children can eat snacks, make arts & crafts, and
watch magicians and musicians on stage. VIP members will also have access to
special seating areas and a lounge with snacks, drinks, and a bar.
All festival
proceeds will go towards Congregation Gates of Prayer, the Louise Hayem Manheim Gates Preschool, and the Team Gleason Foundation.
"Music is
integral to Jewish life and to the lives of everyone who calls Louisiana home,"
Gerber said.
