RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, a reality competition spin-off of RuPaul's Drag Race, premiered in 2012. At the invitation of RuPaul, past queens "werk" the runway in hopes of escaping elimination and winning a spot in the "Drag Race Hall of Fame," along with a cash prize.
In each episode, queens compete in various "mini" challenges before diving headfirst into a main challenge, where the queens present their themed looks on the runway. A panel of judges, typically including RuPaul and celebrity guests, critique the queens and ultimately decide who is safe and who is up for elimination. The bottom contestants face off in a lip sync for their lives in hopes of impressing RuPaul and staying in the competition. Determined by their charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, the remaining queen is crowned "America's Next Drag Superstar."
