Running Towards Holiday Cheer

Get ready for the 12th Annual Running of the Santas on Saturday, December 9 in the streets of the Warehouse District in New Orleans. This year's event will feature musical headliners Bucktown All Stars and is sure to be a fun time of holiday cheer for all.

Online registration is open now, with General Admission tickets at $30 per person. Those who act fast may be able to purchase tickets for a two-for-one rate of $30 while supplies last. VIP tickets are also available for $75, which includes an open bar at Generations Hall at the end of the night.

Known as one of the most exciting New Orleans events all year long, the event will kick off with holiday food and specialty drinks from 2-6 p.m. at Manning's at 519 Fulton St. Attendees can participate in the costume contest at 5 p.m. or just wait for the run, which will start at 5:45 p.m.

Those with the most creative Christmas attires will have a chance to win the title of "Best Holiday Costume." It is expected that more than 3,000 participants will compete for the title at this year's event. So put on your best Santa, Mrs. Claus, Scrooge, or reindeer costumes and get ready for some fierce competition. The contest begins at Mannings at 5 p.m. and will include local media celebrities as the judges. Prizes will be given for both first and second places.

This extravagant costume contest will be followed by the run itself, which will feature a collection of Santas racing through the streets of the Warehouse District to their final location of the 'North Pole', which is Generations Hall on Andrew Higgins Boulevard. Once the Santas arrive at the North Pole, Bucktown All Stars will take the stage and play the night away. The holiday festivities this year are sponsored by Absolut Vodka and Crescent Crown Distributing.
