Learn History Through Film
Come to the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience Sunday,
March 10 for a matinee movie showing of Rosenwald. Aviva Kemper's film depicts the lesser-known history of the partnership
between Jewish and African American communities.
The film tells the story of Julius Rosenwald and Booker T.
Washington working together in the Jim Crow south. Together, they built 5,000 schools and had a huge positive impact on the country and communities
being oppressed under segregation.
The screening of the film is taking place in conjunction
with the museum's current special exhibit "A Better Life for Their Children:
Julius Rosenwald, Booker T. Washington, and the 4,978 Schools that Changed
America." The film will be shown at 2 p.m. at the museum and tickets are $8 for
members and $10 for non-members. There will also be a screening on April 4th
at 6 p.m.
