Marigny Opera House's Opera Tableaux
On Tuesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 29, the Marigny Opera House will host Verismo: Opera Tableaux—a night of Italian opera and dance.
Opera Tableaux will incorporate opera, dance, and live painting light projections by Monica Rose Kelly. Expect to be amazed by pianist Brandon Banks as he follows the flow of movement by Edward Spots and Adrienne Simmons. Simmons is a formal ballet dancer who has trained extensively at DanceWorks Chicago, University of the Arts, Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, Peridance Center, Brenau University, Dallas Ballet Company, The Washington Ballet, and Nashville Ballet. Spots has made notoriety on the Gambit's 40 under 40 list, as well as with appearances on popular shows such as So You Think You Can Dance, Dance Moms, and Bulgaria's Dancing with the Stars.
The voices of the show will be tenor Bogdan Mynka and soprano Taylor Witherspoon. Mynka is a native of Ukraine, and his distinctive voice is known across continents. Audience members may have recently seen him as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar on tour with Jefferson Performing Arts Society and as the officer in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with the New Orleans Opera Association. Witherspoon is a graduate of Loyola University of New Orleans in vocal performance under the study of Luretta Bybee. Her voice has reached the streets of Italy, and she aims towards becoming a great musician and having a wonderful representation in the world while traveling to other countries to further her career and education.

This exhilarating show will be held at the Marigny Opera House, located at 725 Ferdinand St., at 8 p.m. each night. General admission tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students. If you don't have the full amount for tickets, there is a door policy to not turn guests away for lack of funds, so don't let that stop you from witnessing this Opera Tableaux show.
