It's no big
surprise that Boulevard Trash Entertainment is hosting its Oddities & Curiosities Expo in New Orleans given its spooky
voodoo history. If you're an enthusiast of the unusual, this is the best place
to acquaint yourself with artists, vendors, dealers, and collectors of bizarre
novelties.
The show
will occur on Saturday, January 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Ernest N.
Morial Convention Center. Guests will get to indulge themselves in creepy
costumes, handcrafted Halloween décor, skulls and bones, taxidermy, and
horror-themed collectibles. Tickets cost $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
Kids under 12 get free admission.
Two events
will take place at the expo. Rainy Day Revival will present "Museum of Marvelous
Mutations: The World's Largest Traveling Freak Show," where spectators will
marvel at the world's greatest mysteries such as mythical Cyclopes,
polycephalic creatures, and multi-limbed monsters. Sleeping Sirens's Heather Clark will also host a taxidermy class where
taxidermists of all experience levels will build a two-headed duckling from
scratch.
The Oddities
& Curiosities Expo is a DIY-ran event that prides itself as the first
traveling show to showcase weird and creepy oddities. Don't worry--all items
are totally legal and sustainable!
