Preserving the culture, managing bands, and keeping a sustainable career is what fuels the New Orleans' historic music scene. "Inside the Music: Stage Bands of New Orleans" will take a closer look at what it takes to lead a stage band in New Orleans.
Presented by MaCCNO and in partnership with the New Orleans Public Library, this event will be held on Thursday, May 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nora Navra Library on 1902 St. Bernard Ave. and will dive into a powerful conversation involving some of the city's working bandleaders and musicians.

From bookings to band management, this event will feature what audiences see vs. what really happens behind the scenes, keeping authenticity and relevancy in music, advice for the next generation, and an open Q&A and community conversation. Moderated by Danovan "Bettis" Calhoun-Bettis, speakers at this event include Margie Perez, Derrick Freeman, Hannah Kreiger-Benson, and Colin Davis.
