Anthology Celebration at New Orleans Public Library
On Saturday, February 24, the New Orleans Public Library will be hosting a book release party at its Main Library located on Loyola Avenue in the Central Business District.
The party will celebrate the library's first
publication of an anthology titled Renewed and will commence at 2 pm. The book features 10 short stories and 10
poems written by local writers who participated in the library's 2023 Summer
Fun Adult Writing Contest.
The contest prompt "Renewal" inspired contestants to craft their interpretations of the theme, resulting in a diverse array of compelling narratives and poetry. The winning entries are showcased in the inaugural published book, marking a significant milestone for the library and amplifying the voices of the vibrant New Orleans writing community.
This project was made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library, who are also sponsoring the book's release party. The event promises an afternoon of literary enjoyment with readings, refreshments, and music. Additionally, there will be a giveaway of the anthology while supplies last, so be sure to join in person to secure your copy.
Shelby Goddard, who helps develop adult programming at the library, expresses her hopes for the anthology. "I hope our writers feel seen, heard, and valued, and that the publication of this book encourages more people to share their creative work with the world," she said in a press release
So this Saturday, February 24, support the "Renewed" and all creative New Orleanians by heading down to Loyola Avenue and celebrate the talent of our local writers. Whether you are a seasoned reader who frequents NOLA's bookstores or simply looking to support the creativity and spirit of our beloved New Orleans community, the book release party is the perfect way to spend your Saturday afternoon.
