New Orleans Film Fest
The New Orleans Film Society recently announced the documentary Michalopoulos: The Art of Celebration as the opening night film of the 36th Annual New Orleans Film Festival.
The documentary will screen at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts on October 23. Directed by Sean O'Malley and produced by WLAE, the film centers on celebrated local artist James Michalopoulos.
This year's film festival will showcase
over 130 films at the Broad Theater, the Contemporary Arts Center, the Prytania
Theater, the Historic New Orleans Collection, the Mahalia Jackson Theater, and
the New Orleans Jazz Museum from October 23 to 27. Virtual screenings will
continue through November 2. The films were selected from over 3,700
submissions from 125 countries. Additional programming, including spotlight
films and special presentations, will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
Previous festivals featured Best Picture winners such as Green Book,
Moonlight, and 12 Years A Slave.
All access passes are now available for
purchase. Individual tickets will go on sale to New Orleans Film Society
members on October 9 and to the general public on October 16. To purchase
