About the Location
Originating as a Catholic church in 1830, what is now the New Marigny Theatre is a church of the arts and sciences that can be defined by its historic architecture and opulent stained-glass windows. Created with the intent to educate, support, and incubate the community's local arts and entertainment scene, New Marigny Theatre hosts a wide variety of events from musical performances to fundraisers.
To open the performing arts season, the theater will host Chloë Over 5th Avenue through September 7, with showtimes starting at 8 p.m. Written by Alex Anthony Vazquez, the play takes place in 1980s Manhattan and follows Chloë, a self-obsessed fashion model who begins an emotional affair the night of her birthday party. Complex, raw, and insightful, the show gets audiences to question preconceived notions about identity, fame, and the problems of our modern culture.
The theatre is dedicated to uplifting local artists and their artistry and seeks to celebrate New Orleans' creatives and their endeavors. Alongside this, the New Marigny Theatre is excited to announce the opening of Lumière Studio, a space that is dedicated to classes and workshops that will foster connection, growth, and overall health for the community.
A great resource for the community, New Marigny Theatre is overjoyed to announce the premiere of their creative season with "Season Social: Opening Celebration" on September 20. This event is a great way to get involved, whether you are creative or not, and both Lumière Studio and New Marigny Theatre are fantastic resources for the New Orleans community.
