From coverage of famous neighborhoods, music festivals, and holidays like Mardi Gras, to more tragic moments like Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans has had its fair share of mainstream attention.

While these events represent a major part of the city's culture, there are other aspects of the culture and areas of the city that receive minimal recognition. One of those areas that's often forgotten is Algiers.

Located on the Westbank of the Mississippi River, directly across from the French Quarter is Algiers, one of the oldest neighborhoods in New Orleans. There you will find a very popular school, Edna Karr High School, with an even more popular football team.

The Hulu original documentary series, Algiers America: The Relentless Pursuit, dives into the highs and lows of Karr's winning football team, as the players maneuver through life as athletes in a tumultuous inner city environment.

After earning four state championships in the last five years, the football team has rightfully earned their title, "The Pride of Algiers."

While inspiring, this documentary is equally filled with tragedy and triumph. Head football coach Brice Brown has sacrificed much of his youth pouring hope and knowledge into the team on and off the field. His payoff comes in many manners, one being the high level of football scholarships awarded to seniors each year.

As an Edna Karr alum and Algiers native, Brown's role as the team's leader, father figure, and mentor is actively seen in the docu-series and has led the sports organization becoming among the nations best. Along with Brown, the docuseries shows dedication from all of the coaches and players including; Coach Norman Randall, team captain Tygee Hill and the amazing athletes on the Edna Karr Football team.
