Get Paid to Entertain Travelers

On Tuesday, March 11, the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY), in partnership with the City of New Orleans Mayor's Office of Cultural Economy (OCE), issued a call for local musicians interested in performing at the airport.

This call to action is initiated by their new live entertainment program, where the musicians must be comfortable welcoming guests and commit to at least one two-hour performance per week for three months. Solo performers, duos, or groups will be considered for performances on stages throughout the MSY Airport terminal.

Since the airport is a family friendly atmosphere, any music containing profanities, violence, or bigotry are forbidden. In regards to music genres, blues, Zydeco, funk, R&B, soul, jazz, and classical are considered upon application. However, school choirs, jazz bands, and brass bands are encouraged to apply as they are considered special performances.

Performers will be compensated $200 an hour per musician of a group of no more than four members, as well as $400 to solo performers, for a two-hour set maximum. All musicians are allowed to receive tips during their set via tip jar, electronically, or QR code.

Any interested local musicians are invited to apply before Friday, March 28, 2025, for the opportunity to entertain the thousands of travelers flying into and out of the city each day.

Applicants are required to read and agree to the Airport's musician performance guidelines and complete a video of a performance that must be submitted along with a picture attached to their interest form. Only one interest form per band, per year, is permitted. The airport does not provide sound equipment or instruments for performers.

A call for musicians will occur annually, and applicants will be evaluated by a committee that includes representatives from the airport, OCE, and the local music community.
