The official holiday parade of the year, The Krewe of Jingle Parade, will roll through downtown New Orleans on Saturday, December 7th beginning at 1 p.m. Past parades have had exclusive special guest appearances by the Gingerbread Man, Frosty the Snowman, Mr. and Mrs. Claus and even New Orleans' own Mr. Bingle. Mayor LaToya Cantrell will put on her holiday pantsuit and lead the parade this year as Grand Marshal. The annual, family-friendly parade features festive floats, marching bands, music, stilt walkers and magical throws. More than 50 elements and 10 festive floats will fill the parade lineup, including fun holiday characters - like the beloved Mister Bingle - dance groups and marching bands. Even the Ghostbuster mobile will join in on the fun once again this year. Celebrate the beginning of the holiday season in the heart of New Orleans and parade your way down the historic Canal Street; an already historic street that has been wrapped in millions of festive lights and holiday dressings. This year more than a million twinkling lights spread over 2 miles "flipped on" the holiday twinkle on Canal St. and throughout the Downtown New Orleans area. Krewe of Jingle is a free event open to any person willing and ready to get in the holiday spirit. Scrooges notpermitted. Come dressed in holiday regale ready for a fun and festive time downtown! The holiday parade begins at Lee Circle, follows down St. Charles and laps around Canal St and back down Baronne St. A map of the parade can be found here. The 2019 Krewe of Jingle Parade is graciously hosted by the Downtown Development District (DDD) and the Roosevelt Hotel New Orleans.

Kick-off your festive weekend on Friday to watch the Movies on the Mississippi programming located at the Spanish Plaza at the Riverwalk. Holiday classics like The Grinch (2018 version), The Muppet Christmas Carol and Elf will screen (respectively) on 3 consecutive Fridays beginning on December 6th and following on the 13th and 20th; opening credits will roll out at 6:30 p.m.
