Hogs for the Cause, the annual event that was recently held April 10-11 next to the UNO campus along the lakefront, featured great music, community, and, best of all, another ultimate BBQ experience.
The annual event featured over 95 BBQ teams competing, and the team names and sensational booth designs are part of the events lore. Entries such as Pork Belly Cartel, David Hasselhogs, Hog Addiction, and Fleur de Que are all entries that competed for the grand prize, and they all have one overall goal: to help raise money for the cause. This year, Hogs raised over six million dollars, providing direct grants to families fighting pediatric brain cancer and to hospital groups and housing Children's Hospital campuses.
Hogs also featured a wonderful music lineup this year, highlighted by rising star Stephen Wilson Jr, Robert Jon & the Wreck, and so many others. Several of the BBQ teams featured their own music, one team in particular featured New Orleans' own Flow Tribe.
At the end of the event, this year's Grand Champion was named: congratulations to Carnivore Carnival.
