Garden District Book Shop's Summer Events
The Garden District Book Shop is bringing back its beloved "Dog Days of Summer" series, offering a variety of daily events throughout June and July.
Located at 2727 Prytania St., the bookstore invites locals and visitors to escape the heat and enjoy activities ranging from cornhole tournaments to craft afternoons, all complemented by offerings from its in-house Bar Epilogue.

Sunday: Cornhole with Ted & George
Kick off the week with friendly competition. Joined by Ted and George from Ted and George's Men Shop at the Rink, cornhole tournaments begin at 3 p.m., with sign-ups available at Bar Epilogue. Prizes and bragging rights are up for grabs.
Monday: Extroverted Introvert
Unwind in a quiet atmosphere ideal for reading, working, or relaxing. The cozy setting provides a peaceful start to the week.
Tuesday: Crafternoon
Engage in beginner-friendly art projects each week. From 5 to 7 p.m., enjoy hot dogs from Glizzies by Poppa while crafting.
Wednesday: Punch Drunk Parlour Games
Participate in board games and enjoy Summer Campo Punch made with Mi Campo tequila. Special murder mystery nights occur on the last Wednesdays of June and July; sign-ups are required on Eventbrite.
Thursday: Martini Thursdays
Experience a new twist on the classic martini each week. Discover your favorite variation in a relaxed setting.
Friday: Live Music Night
Enjoy live performances from local musicians every Friday evening—perfect for unwinding after the workweek.
Saturday: Miss Your Flight with VINO
Join curated tasting flights featuring selections by VINO Wholesale. It's an opportunity to explore new wines in a comfortable environment.
About Garden District Book Shop
Under the leadership of Barkley Rafferty and Carroll Gelderman, the Garden District Book Shop has grown into a laid-back neighborhood staple—equal parts bookstore, bar, and hangout spot. Since taking over in 2021, the pair has brought in big-name authors including Steve Gleason, Walter Isaacson, Octavia Spencer, and even the Bush twins. The addition of Bar Epilogue in 2024 has expanded its offerings, providing craft cocktails, lite bites, and a selection of beers and wines.
