George Porter Jr. & Leo Nocentelli to Headline
NOLA Funk Fest will be taking place for the second time ever on October 18-20, 2024. The weekend will be full of music, food, and local art. Tickets
are currently on sale, with limited availability for early
bird discounted prices. The headliners of the event will be funk legends George Porter Jr. and Leo Nocentelli.
At the first NOLA Funk Fest, George Porter Jr. and Leo Nocentelli had their own separate performances, but this year they will be performing as one. More New Orleans funk icons, Ivan Neville and Stanton Moore, will be joining Porter and Nocentelli in their performance.
George Porter Jr. is a New Orleans native and a recipient of a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He founded The Meters in 1965 with Art Neville, Joseph Zigaboo Modeliste, and Leo Nocentelli, who is another New Orleans native musician.
The fest will also be a debut preview of The Louisiana Music
& Heritage Experience, a new museum project dedicated to Louisiana's diverse
history of music. The Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew exhibit featured at The
Jazz Museum will also remain open through September for jazz fans to enjoy. The
2024 fest will also feature a new exhibit on the beautiful history of Louisiana
blues music.
The lineup for Funk Fest will be announced at Tipitina's on March 23 at a funk show. The NOLA Funk Fest show will feature George Porter Jr. & Runnin' Pardners, The Funkin' Truth, Leo Nocentelli of The Meters, River Eckert Band, and many more groups. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show are available for purchase, but will also be included with presale purchases to the fest.
