Families Helping Families of New Orleans serves Orleans, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard parishes, and supports all disabilities of all ages. Since 1991 the family-directed resource center has provided information and referral, training and education, and peer to peer support on issues related to disability. They recognize that many parents want to speak to other parents who have "been there, done that" and as such their staff is full of trained and knowledgeable individuals who are parents of children with disabilities or individuals with disabilities. Besides offering those services they can also help teach you to advocate for your child and for them to advocate for themselves, as well as navigating support systems and overcoming challenges in those settings.

At Families Helping Families, the team recognizes that raising a child with a disability or who needs special health care requires lots of information and resources. They like to think of themselves as "a one stop shop" for those services. Besides their robust website and workshops, they also offer a quarterly magazine, Exceptional Times, and are active on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You can check out their socials at @FHFofGNO
