Support Market Umbrella Through This Fun Event
A brand-new fundraising event for the independent, nonprofit organization that operates the Crescent City Farmers Market will take place on April 20, 2023.
The event, called the Moonlight Market will directly benefit Market Umbrella, which has been putting on the farmers market since 1995, according to the market's website. It will be at The Station on the Lafitte Greenway, located at 500 N. Norman C. Francis Pkwy., and will feature more than 10 New Orleans restaurants and pop-ups serving dishes with fresh and local ingredients.
In addition to taking place alongside Crescent City Farmers Market on April 20 from 6 to 9 p.m., Moonlight Market will also have live music, raffles, garden-to-glass cocktails, and more for attendees to enjoy. The event will serve as a good way for people connect with and celebrate the more than 75 local families and farmers who use the market to present and sell their goods to NOLA residents.
About Market Umbrella
Market Umbrella mission statement is "to cultivate the power of farmers markets to drive economic and community health in the region," according to the Crescent City Farmers Market's website. Not only does the organization do this through the farmers market, it has a number of different programs in place to help increase food access and improve community health in Louisiana.
One program is the Farmers Market Nutrition Program, which supports low-income seniors and families who receive WIC assistant funds. Other provided programs work to benefit food producers, shoppers, children, parents and soon-to-be parents, and many more.
