Tis the season of red, white and green. The season of lights filling the streets and decorated evergreen trees in windows. The city is getting into the holiday spirit and so is New Orleans' City Park. Annually hosting Celebration in the Oaks (CITO), this is their 33rd year of lights, music, food, amusement rides, the gorgeous botanical garden, and the place where kids and adults can interact with their favorite fairy tales, Storyland.
With over a million dazzling lights, the annual celebration is famous for its many traditional displays including the Train Garden, Campfire Village, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, Mr. Bingle and the Cajun Night before Christmas.
Open from November 29- January 1st , the CITO team is excited to share some of the new features created this year.
From the Swooning Swamp Lilies to the new swing ride, there are a number of new things to see this year. One of the most exciting is the newly renovated Storyland. The updated pieces and additions creates a wonderful environment to let your imagination run wild. One of the newest pieces is Jack and the beanstalk, a 2.5 story exhibit with a spiraling tube slide.
Along with Storyland, the park will be hosting a number of events throughout December. Some of the events include; Merry Mutt Mondays, Yoga Classes, Storytime in Storyville, Happy Hour Lagniappe, a Meet and Greet with The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show, and possible cooking displays in the Botanical Garden's new outdoor kitchen, "Kitchen in the Garden."
This years' Celebration in the Oaks is filled with all of the Christmas joys one could ask for. This event is appropriate for all ages and is a spectacular worth seeing, drawing in people from all around the world.
