Cocktail Night and Literary Delights

The Garden District Book Shop is celebrating André Darlington's latest book, A Booze & Vinyl Christmas: Merry Music-and-Drink Pairings to Celebrate the Season, with a cocktail party and book signing on November 16 at 6 p.m.

André Darlington is a best-selling author, food and travel writer, and consultant most known for his 10 cocktail recipe books. He is also a winning food and wine critic, wine bar and restaurant owner, and became the first cocktail writer to circumnavigate the globe in 100 years. In addition to his culinary contributions, Darlington also published three books of poetry.

The book is a festive guide to 40 favorite holiday albums ranging from the 1940s to present, and is divided into four chapters--Rock the Halls, Warm & Fuzzy, Jazzy & Classical, and Gift-Wrapping Station--with each entry featuring a paired beverage recipe that connects the drink to the music selection.

Among the artist featured are Johnny Mathis, the Beach Boys, Elvis, the Jackson 5, Mariah Carey, Bob Dylan, Justin Bieber, Gwen Stefani, Sia, Dolly Parton, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Vince Guaraldi, Barbara Streisand, Willie Nelson, Boyz II Men, Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin, Michael Bublé, and John Legend.

The Garden District Book Shop specializes in signed books with several hundred autographed copies in stock. It also holds more than 80 book signing events every year. The location has one of the largest selections of New Orleans/local books in the city and played a supporting role in the careers of local authors from Anne Rice to James Lee Burke.

Attendees of the event can sample cocktails from the book before Darlington sits down with The Garden District Book Shop's Josh-Wade Ferguson to discuss A Booze & Vinyl Christmas. Immediately following, Darlington will be available to sign copies of the book.

Josh-Wade Ferguson lives in New Orleans and has a PhD from the University of Mississippi in blues music and Southern literature.

A Soirée To Remember

Those who are interested can reserve a copy for $32, which includes a general admission ticket. Separately, tickets are available for $5 each. Additionally, copies of Darlington's other work will also be available for purchase.
