About the Organization
Started in 1953, the Arc of Greater New Orleans is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities reach and live up to their fullest potential. On a mission to ensure that all people, regardless of ability status, have autonomy, access to equal opportunities, and be fully included into every aspect of society, they provide a multitude of services to the Greater New Orleans community.
ArcGNO helps parents to find effective therapies and treatments for their children, aid students in exploring their future options post-high school, and provide coaching and assistance for adults who desire to be employed. Similarly, they also host a wide variety of activities and events where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) can engage with their community. Through the organization, adults with IDDs are able to work on entrepreneurial projects such as the Mardi Gras recycle center, Grounds Krewe, Greater New Orleans Landscaping, janitorial services, or helping to host events at Sterling Hall. ArcGNO is a fantastic resource to the New Orleans community and a great organization to support through their FashionAbility 2024 event.
