American Aquarium Check Off Another Historic Venue
American Aquarium came through town and checked off another historic venue on their long list of achievements. The venue that the Raleigh, North Carolina alt-Country band played was the legendary Tipitina's Uptown.
A mid-week show could have easily spelled tragedy for a college town out on break, but the New Orleans crowd had better intentions, greeting the band with enthusiasm and singing along to nearly every song the band played. American Aquarium are on tour supporting their latest release, Chicamacomico. The Chicamacomico 2022 set wasn't dominated by the new album, but rather highlighted, as the set itself was comprised of material from eight of the band's releases.
In 2017 the band took a break and returned in 2019 with a whole new lineup, but judging from the show, you would have thought the band had been together much longer. BJ Barham started the band in 2005 and this new lineup flows smoothly. He took every opportunity he could to thank the venue and praise the city for its culture and amazing food.
