Tonight, the Women's National Book Association of New Orleans presents a reading and conversation with Louisiana Poet Laureate, Mona Lisa Saloy. Dr. Saloy will read her poetry and talk about the importance of poetry in the community.
A native New Orleanian and folklorist, Dr. Saloy is an English professor at Dillard University and was awarded the position of Poet Laureate of Louisiana from 2021-2023. Her work captures the mystery, culture, and energy of Louisiana. Her most recent work can be found in Chicago Quarterly, University of New Orleans Press, Obsidian, and Tribes Black Lives Matter Anthology.
The National Book Association of New Orleans is a group who love books and participate in book culture in a variety of ways. They meet monthly and offer a range of educational and literary programs.
