Sharista Giles, a Tennessee native woke from a coma only to discover she was the mother of a 4-month-old baby. Giles was just 20 years old and five months pregnant when she got into a car crash last December that put her in a coma. Doctors had very little hope that Sharista Giles would ever wake up from her coma, but luckily her family never gave up hope on her.
Though she is still unable to talk, Giles is able to visually respond to things around her, and has responded to emotional stimuli. Luckily, the baby was unharmed in the crash, however the doctors did have to deliver him prematurely, and he remains in the neonatal intensive care unit at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
