As veteran fundraisers and pit masters, feeding those in need was a no-brainer to Hogs for the Cause team Deswine Intervention. From the day they discovered that their annual 'cue fest was canceled due to COVID-19, the team has been feeding everyone from hospital workers and nursing homes to the homeless camped out under I-10 along Calliope Street.

With help from Neil McClure from McClure's BBQ and the rest of the Deswine Intervention team, folks are being offered meals such as pulled pork sandwiches, spaghetti and meatballs, red beans and rice, smoked chicken and Shrimp Alfredo. If you follow @deswineintervention on Instagram, you'll see the hundreds of meals they've distributed to healthcare workers at Covenant Nursing Home, Children's Hospital, Ochsner, University Medical Center and more.

If you're interested in effecting a little of your own "Deswine Intervention," make a cash donation online at deswineintervention.org through PayPal. You can also pre-order your Lenten Seafood Friday meal for pick-up in the parking lot behind NOLA Brewing, April 10th's menu featuring either fried catfish with slaw and white beans or crawfish, corn and potatoes. One hundred percent of the proceeds goes towards feeding those who heal us.
