War and the Wailers Come Together in NOLA

Legendary California funk band War and Jamaican reggae band the Wailers came together and performed at the Orpheum Theater on April 28, 2024 as part of the Jazz After Dark concert series.

War was formed in Long Beach, California in 1969 and had a very successful career in the 1970s with their combination funk, rock, Latin, and soul sounds. Some of the band's most successful songs include "Why Can't We Be Friends?" and "Low Rider."

The Wailers is a band from Kingston, Jamaica, and was formed from members of Bob Marley and the Wailers after the lead singer's death in 1981. In addition to playing Bob Marley's classic tracks, the Wailers have put out four studio records since 1989. Their newest record, One World, came out in 2020.
