A Coast Guard cutter arrived in San Diego on Thursday carrying more than 14 tons of cocaine. The authorities explained that part of the drugs came from a large surge of seizures near Central and South America. The cocaine is valued at $424 million, was seized with the help of Canadian forces as well, in 19 separate incidents in the eastern Pacific Ocean. One of the busts included a 10.5 –ton bust from a coastal freighter, which was the largest maritime drug interdiction since 2009.
