Tchoupitoulas based taco shop, Barracuda has
teamed up with the historic uptown music venue Tipitina's to create the "band
taco", a shrimp alambre taco featuring gulf white shrimp, Niman Ranch bacon,
grilled white onion, and melty cheese. The first in a series of taco
collaborations between Tipitina's and Barracuda, the taco will be available for
a limited time run throughout January for $5, with all proceeds supporting The
Tip It Foundation.
The Tip-It Foundation was created by Tipitina's in collaboration with local jazz-funk band Galactic, as an effort to cultivate the future of the Gulf South's music, culture, and heritage. A donor advertised fund, Tip-It works with like-minded charities and organizations in the Greater New Orleans area to further community outreach and education.
"Music and community are a big part of what makes Barracuda vital to us," says Barracuda Owner Brett Jones. "This combo makes Galactic and Tipitina's a pitch-perfect neighbor and collaborator and adds one more reason to support this quintessential local institution with a margarita and taco in hand."
Barracuda has gained a reputation in the New Orleans food scene for its laissez-faire margarita garden and fresh, scratch-made Mexican staples. With vegetarian and carnivore options abundantly available, guests have the option of turning their taco into a bowl, quesadilla and more. With a carefully curated drink selection, guests can choose to pair their meal with draft margaritas (with fresh-squeezed juice), horchata, tepache, and fine wines and beers.
