When a band decides to pursue side projects and then tour on those projects there is always an inherit danger of the audience wanting the original material more than a new band. Thom York and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead have formed an amazing new band called The Smile. The Smile to me is an evolution of Radiohead and a far darker and broodier.
Tuesday night's show at the Orpheum Theater was a showcase of musical talents and visual hypnosis. The band is touring on this year's release, A Light for Attracting Attention. The set was that album as well as five yet to be released songs and one amazing York solo song. The crowd did not care if there were any Radiohead songs in the set, knowing full well what they were getting into. You can see more pictures here.
