It's spring time and that means it's time for the New Orleans Poetry Festival 2022! The festival has already begun with several days of virtual and live readings to attend between now and Sunday, April 24. The New Orleans Poetry Festival features international and local poets; live events start today, Thursday, April 21.

In 2016, Megan Burns of Trembling Pillow Press and Bill Lavender of Lavender Ink/Diálogos started the festival. The mission was is to bring poets from around the world and offer interactive events that will let people spend four days immersed in poetry. The New Orleans Poetry Festival has a newly expanded program with different venues and events, all with a view toward making it more inclusive and exciting. Friday April 22 will be the International Feature at Zeitgeist Theater and Saturday April 23 will be the Headline Event featuring Rickey Laurentiis and Joelle McSweeney. Here is a complete list of events.

There will be a small press fair running Saturday and Sunday April 23-4 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Greenway Station. Come out and listen to your favorite poet give a reading. buy a beautiful chapbook or two, and meet like-minded poetry-lovers.
