In celebration of the new film about the life and times of French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, The Napoleon House threw an elegant event culminating in a private screening of the film, the first international showing. Attendees were greeted with the hat that actor Joaquin Phoenix wore while acting as Napoleon before entering the courtyard for a glass of Moet Chandon Champagne served by a towering woman in a flowing red dress. As attendees dined on charcuterie, hors d'oeuvres, and hot truffle French fries, some costumed patrons were selected for a costume contest. Of course, Napoleon himself won out over the bejeweled ladies. Before the crowd marched down the street to the Prytania at Canal Place, a bottle of champagne was sabered open and served.
