You know those blue bikes you’ve been seeing around the city? Well in the month of May, if you ride one of those to any of four selected museums, you have the chance to win a prize, like a museum membership or a Blue Bike membership. So here’s how it works.
The Contemporary Arts Center, The New Orleans Museum of Art, The New Orleans Botanical Garden, and The Ogden Museum of Southern Art are all participating, and all they ask is you take a picture in front of one of their museums, with the hashtag #BlueBikes4Art. All posts must be public and made on either Facebook or Instagram. Contestants are chosen weekly for prizes.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana launched Blue Bikes last year as another means of transportation around the city. They’ve paired with The Helis Foundation, a private foundation that funds several nonprofit organizations in New Orleans, to make this contest possible. The Helis Foundation also supports free admission into select museums for Louisiana residents. Both The New Orleans Museum of Art and The New Orleans Botanical Garden have free admission on Wednesdays, The Odgen Museum of Southern Art on Thursdays, and The Contemporary Arts Center on Sundays.
