Of the 11 prestigious chefs competing at the 2016 Great America Seafood Cookoff, chef Alex Eaton of Manship Woodfired Kitchen in Jackson, Mississippi was crowned King of American Seafood, an honor he will hold for a year. Instead of one dish, Eaton decided to make a trio of Gulf shrimp delectables including New Orleans barbecue-style, Mediterranean-style, and Florida-style. Those multiple flavors in one dish may have won over the judges more than focusing on one fish in your dish. Alex Eaton is well-versed in New Orleans-style cooking; he's worked at Domenica, American Sector, Capedeville, and Mr. B's. Unfortunately, there has yet to be a Queen of American Seafood crowned, but it was impossible to argue against Alex's Shrimp.
