The highly-anticipated Essence Festival is descending on New Orleans this weekend, along with a mid-week Fourth of July celebration. Revelry will surely bound from lake to river and every corner in between. If you are out and about with no plans, here are a few festivities for you to enjoy.

Tonight is Trivia Night at Siberia at 8 p.m. The game is free and there are prizes to win. Stay late for Set and Setting, Cape of the Matador, and Sumerian at Siberia at 10 p.m. for $6.

The St. Joe Art Lofts are throwing a live music concert featuring Nayo Jones and friends at 7 p.m. The Lofts located on 923 Constance Street have a focus on creating an artist community, and female vocalist Nayo Jones is a resident. She will be joined by Glen David Andrew, Davell Crawford, and Donald Harrison at the show which costs $25 at the door.

Thursday is, of course, the 4th of July. If you don’t have plans, you can join in the fun at Bucktown’s 4th of July bash with live music by Gal Holiday, Christian Serpas and more on Thursday form 11-8 p.m. Admission is $5.

Friday is also the first Friday of the month, which means it’s First Fridays on Fulton from 5-8 p.m. There will be live music, crawfish, and fun all for free admission. Russian Mafia band Debauche is at Circle Bar at 10 p.m. for $10, and Amanda Shaw and Deacon John will play at Rock n’ Bowl at 9 p.m.

The new bar on Freret Gasa Gasa has two interesting events you may want to see. Saturday is Sirens, Sounds of the Mountain, and High at 10 p.m. Head back on Sunday to see the short film Fall From Your Bones, eat Polish sausage, and help send the filmmaker to Warsaw.

End your week on Sunday at the W Hotel’s Adults/Swim rooftop pool party from 11-5 p.m. The party is free, and there will be drink specials.
