Now that your clear morning drive to work is congested with yellow school buses and uniformed students are greeted by familiar and welcoming teachers, you may be feeling nostalgic. When’s the last time you took the time to learn something new or to revisit forgotten subjects that once intrigued you? Or the last time you had someone with wisdom teach you? Away from the hectic routines of life, Temple Sinai (6227 St. Charles Ave.) offers that time and opportunity.

If you’re interested in learning about one of the oldest religions or in rebuilding a faith, the almost 150-year-old synagogue would like you consider Reform Judaism. Your teacher, Rabbi Matthew Reiner, will host an informal seminar (no test or homework!) for 75 minutes each Sunday. Through presentations and friendly discussions, you’ll be taught Jewish theology, life cycle rituals, holiday observations, prayer, and the fundamentals of Jewish belief from a Reform Jewish perspective.

Classes are free and begin Sunday, September 23, at 9:30 a.m. Just give their office a call at 504-861-3693 and let them know you’d like to register for a seat this fall season. You can expect a welcoming teacher and some bagels waiting for every Sunday morning.
