The competition was fierce, but oh so sweet! Krewe de Pink's popular Death By Chocolate, Not Breast Cancer threw yet another wonderful fundraiser for breast cancer research in which hopeful chefs cooked up their best chocolate-infused dish to win the top prizes. Mirepoix Catering, Messina's Catering, Pigeon Catering, Nunez Community College, Mardi Gras School of Cooking, Katy's Catering, Caluda's Cottage Catering, and Cafe Hope made marvelous treats and eats like Chicken with Mole Black Beans, Chocolate Fettucine and Duck Confit, and White, Dark, and Ruby King Cakes to vie for a place in the Top Three.
The Pussyfooters dance krewe was in attendance to serve food and provide a pretty pink backdrop, but all eyes were on the Sweet Survivors, six lovely women who beat breast cancer: Debra Banquer, Rebecca Brignac, Linda Dill, Carolyn Przybylski, Genelle Perez-Sandi, and Peggy Spear. The event honored Jean Vappie, a Sweet Survivor of 2021.
