Since its foundation in October
2005, the Animal Rescue New Orleans's no kill shelter has been committed to
saving and sheltering as many abandoned or stray dogs and cats as possible. This
includes tending the immediate medical needs of rescued animals.
The nonprofit, grassroots shelter,
founded by Jane Garrison in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, helps promote
foster, adoption, and reunion of pets with caretakers. Less than a year after
the founding of the shelter, in February of 2006, the administration of the
ARNO was transitioned into local hands. Since then, volunteers have kept the
missions of the shelter alive and well.
The shelter survives on volunteer
labor and charitable contributions. There are thousands of animals still to be
cared for, fostered, and adopted. ARNO has rescued over 940 kitties and puppies
since the start of the pandemic, and the need continues to be enormous.
Beginning July 21 at 9 a.m. until
July 25 at 3 p.m., the shelter will host an online silent auction for their Christmas in July event. The event will feature excellent
prices like jewelry, gift baskets, Barkus posters, collectible art, wine
baskets, and more that is soon to be announced! Entering the auction couldn't
be easier, just text (504)-669-1908 anytime with your name, item number, and
bid amount. View the list of items by emailing adopt@animalrescueneworleans.org. Prizes will be posted under the
discussion section of the Facebook event post.
Don't live in the metro area? No worries! Prizes can be mailed as long as additional postage and handling fees are paid. Participating in the auction will help directly support the Animal Rescue shelter and help them continue to care for abandoned animals throughout NOLA.
