Silicon Valley Review: "Runaway Devaluation"

Season 2 of Silicon Valley, while funny, has been darker and often starts at a slower pace than what we were used to in Season 1. This season's drama, of course, lies with Peter Gregory (Christopher Evan Welch) passing away in the first episode. His death may be the reason for the differences in tone, changes in the flow of the scripts, and different edits. The real Gregory, Welch, died in 2013 due to lung cancer.

Episode 2 continues with the lawsuit initiated by Gavin Belson against Pied Piper at the wake for Peter Gregory…very classy. Pied Piper finds out that they are being dropped from Gregory’s Raviga company and so they are forced to go back to reclaiming the offer sheets they turned down in last week’s episode. Last week, Erlich used his “negging technique” to gain these offer sheets. But, Erlich’s rudeness comes to bite them in the butt, when they have to beg for forgiveness to get the offers back on the table.

All in all, Pied Piper is standing in hot water. While, the episode, itself, is not filled with the laughs we've been accustomed to seeing on the show.
