Michael Hammons of Athens, Georgia, saved a dog in distress that was locked inside of a hot car by smashing the window out with a piece of his wife's wheelchair. He claimed that after what he had seen during his time in the Army gave him PTSD, and he can't stand seeing such cruelty. The irresponsible 22-year-old owner of the car and the dog, who probably untruthfully claimed to be gone for only five minutes, had the man arrested for the act of criminal trespassing. She was merely cited for leaving her pet in the car. Animal advocates in the area are working towards a law that allows citizens to save animals in distress from hot cars.
