San Fermin in Nueva Orleans Returns July 10-12
NOLA Bulls is putting on its 20th annual celebration of San Fermin in Nueva Orleans.
The Running of the Bulls in New Orleans takes inspiration from the famous event in Pamplona, Spain. It honors Saint Fermin, the Bishop of Pamplona, and was popularized globally by Ernest Hemingway's 1926 novel The Sun Also Rises.
This year's weekend of events will take place from July 10 to 12. The main event features the "running of the bulls," with participants chased by hundreds of Big Easy Roller Derby skaters instead of real bulls on Saturday, July 11, at 6:30 a.m. The main event will kick off from Gallier Hall.
El Txupinzazo features a Friday night, July 10, pre-party with Spanish-style activities, food, and music at the Inn at the Old Jail. There will also be a post-run celebration called La Fiesta de Pantalones on June 11, as well as the El Pobre de Mí Hungover Brunch on June 12 at Gallier Hall.
