There is yet another way to beat the heat in New Orleans this summer. The Rosenwald Pool and Pool House on 1120 S. Broad Street are now open and ready for the public.

The pool and pool house has been closed since Hurricane Katrina, when the recreation suffered austere damages. After $2.3 million spent in renovations, the new 3.6 to 5 feet deep pool is looked on by Mayor Mitch Landrieu to be an example of his goal to “provide safe, accessible facilities for all our residents.” The pool will also include equipment that yields to the American with Disabilities Act. Besides the renovated pool, there is also a separate male and female changing house and shower stations.

The Rosenwald Pool will be available from now until September 4, Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm, Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm and Sunday from 2 pm to 6 pm.
