By: Jordan Haber

The highly anticipated Marconi Walking & Bike Path is ready to run and roll! The 10-foot wide mile-long concrete stretch completes the fourth side of City Park’s bike path project, connecting existing paths between Robert E. Lee and Harrison. The nearly $700,000 project was funded in part by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and the Federal Highway Administration. The path’s design was provided by Burk Kleinpeter, Inc., and the competitively-bid contract was awarded to Command Construction Industries.

No bike? No problem! Bike (and boat) rentals are available onsite at the Boat House on Big Lake. Spend an afternoon beneath the Spanish moss, cruising between the oaks and cypress in the scenic City Park. Meet on the corner of Marconi Drive and Robert E. Lee Boulevard for the ribbon cutting on Friday, October 6 at 10:30 a.m.
