Earlier this year, New Orleans-based instrumental rock band the Quaalords had their second coming. The band was on hiatus while drummer Billy Louviere was out of town. Billy is back and with his brother Jeff on guitar and new band mate Eric Laws on keyboard. The trio stepped out of their practice space, The Circle Bar, to play a show at The BEATnik, just down the street. The two venues are quite different and serve the band well. The bands set was full and felt right at home on the Lynchian stage at the BEATnik. The band’s music is a great blend of cinematic spy rock that bleeds all sorts of 70s horror and Psy- Fi influences. The full house really seemed to enjoy themselves, almost as much as the band did.
