Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and the Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board will host the 4th Annual Pardoning of the Crawfish on Tuesday, March 3, at Cypress Lake on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus.
The Pardoning of the Crawfish was started by Governor Nungesser in 2017. Since then, the Pardoning of the Crawfish has been the perfect way to kickoff crawfish season and celebrate Spring.
This year's crawfish of honor will be named "Emile", in honor of J. Emile Verret. Verret served as the Lieutenant Governor from 1944 until 1948 and graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, formerly known as the Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute, in 1905.
